6 Great Ways to Connect with your Friends during Social Distancing

This is a weird time for all of us. We can’t really go out or see our friends. At least not in person. Here are some ways to connect with friends, family and anyone you might not be able to see at the moment. Have fun!

1. Write letters

Go oldschool and write a letter to a loved one. You can get as creative as you want. It’s always a special feeling to pick something out of your mailbox that isn’t a bill.

2. Remote movie date

The chrome extension “Netflix Party” allows you to watch a movie with your friends while being in different places.

You can all prepare snacks and chat while watching the film. If someone needs to stop to take a pee break the movie will pause for everyone. This is nice, so everyone’s at the same point of the movie at all times.

3. Remote Pictionary

You don’t even have to leave your bed for this fun game night idea.

On skribbl.io you can play Pictionary online and it’s lots of fun.

You could also video chat at the same time to see your friends reactions and add more of a “real life” feel to it.

4. Compliment your loved ones

Compliments always lift the mood.

Make your own Jar of Compliments (click here for DIY) and send it to your friends or family.

It’s a unique and easy-to-make gift that will surely brighten their day.

5. Make new friends and learn languages

You want to brush up on the French you learned in school? Or learn a new language? There are great apps out there that connect learning with socializing.

Hello Talk is an App designed to connect you with people all over the world to make friends and ideally find a language partner.

6. Break a sweat together

Hop on a video chat and work out together.

You can do follow along videos or you can take turns creating workouts. This way you can hang out, catch up and be each others personal trainer.

Working out does not only have a lot of benefits for your health, moving your body will also put you in a better mood – especially if you can do it with a friend.
