Unique compliments that will make someones day

Jar of Compliments

Making a compliment is a fairly easy way to brighten someones day. It could sometimes even change someones mindset for the whole day. So why not give one every day?

I’ll show you how to do that in this super easy DIY (compliment ideas included).

Today we’re making a jar of compliments. You can give it to a friend, a family member, a neighbor – even a stranger. There’s no limitation on giving out compliments.

How to make one?

All you need for this little gift, you probably already have at home:

  • a jar of your choice (I used an empty candle jar for this one)
  • a couple of compliments – printed or hand-written
  • scissors to separate your compliments
  • optional: some decorations

That’s it.

Compliments

I think the more personal a compliment the better. However, depending on how many compliments you want to make, you might run out of ideas at some point. So here are some I used for my best friend:

  1. You somehow always manage to make me smile when I feel down.
  2. You’re one of those rare people that everybody loves.
  3. You have incredible taste in style.
  4. You feel like home.
  5. I’m impressed by your dedication and drive.
  6. You don’t need highlighter because you glow from within. 😀
  7. You’re the only person I would trust with all my secrets.
  8. Even if you disagree, you’re always open to hear all sides and empathize.
  9. You’re really funny, I even enjoy your “bad jokes”.
  10. You inspire me to be a better person.
  11. Talking to you, I always learn something new.
  12. Your positivity is infectious.
  13. If more people were like you, the world would be a better place.
  14. I bet you were the kid in kindergarten everyone shared their candy with.
  15. You’re way smarter than you admit to yourself.
  16. I love how courageous you are.
  17. Thank you for being my friend. (This one’s not really a compliment but I chose to include it anyways 🙂 )

Further gift ideas

I was really excited about making this jar because I wanted to surprise my best friend with it. I didn’t have a particular reason, I just wanted to thank her for always being there for me.

If you miss your friends in this weird time, why not just send them a jar to remind them that you think they’re awesome?

You could also make one for mother’s day to thank your mom for doing an awesome job.

It would also make a great anniversary gift. Or put numbers on the compliments as a kind of countdown to your anniversary (or another special day).

Another idea would be turning this into an advent calendar and just putting 1-24 on the compliments.

The options are endless. Whoever you choose to make this for, I’m sure it’ll bring them joy.

I’d love to hear from you
